Land Acknowledgment
We respectfully acknowledge that the land on which we live, work, and gather in Cambridge, Ontario, is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee (Six Nations), and the Neutral peoples, and is within the lands covered by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which calls on all people to share and care for the land peacefully. We also recognize the ongoing presence and contributions of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
This land has been a place of gathering, trade, and stewardship for Indigenous peoples for generations. We recognize that the history of this land includes both relationships of cooperation and periods of hardship, and we honor the resilience and wisdom of the Indigenous communities who continue to live here.
As we live and work on this territory today, we acknowledge our responsibility to listen, learn, and act in ways that support reconciliation and strengthen relationships with Indigenous peoples. We offer our respect to the past, present, and future stewards of this land, and commit to fostering understanding, equity, and care for all communities.
