Movement Therapy

Our Kinesiologist helps patients take control of their health through movement and exercise. Physical activity is one of the most powerful tools for preventing and managing chronic conditions, maintaining independence, and improving overall quality of life. Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply looking to enhance your mobility, our Movement Therapy program is designed to meet your individual needs.

Personalized Health and Wellness Plans
Every patient’s needs are unique. During your first appointment, our Kinesiologist will:

  • Assess your current physical activity and fitness levels

  • Review your medical history, past or present injuries, and any limitations

  • Consider lifestyle factors, such as work, family responsibilities, and daily routines

Using this information, we create a customized exercise and wellness plan tailored specifically to your goals and abilities. Our plans are designed not only to improve physical health but also to increase energy, enhance mobility, and support independence in daily activities. Patients with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, chronic pain, or those focusing on fall prevention will receive strategies to manage symptoms safely while improving strength, flexibility, and overall well-being.

Understanding the Benefits of Physical Activity
Movement Therapy sessions are more than just exercise—they are educational experiences. Patients learn how consistent physical activity can positively impact their health, prevent injuries, and support long-term wellness. Even small, regular changes to your activity level can result in noticeable improvements in strength, endurance, balance, and overall day-to-day function. Our Kinesiologist provides ongoing guidance and encouragement to help patients integrate physical activity safely and effectively into their routines.

Group Education and Exercise Programs
In addition to individualized sessions, we offer structured group programs designed to provide both education and peer support:

  • GLA:D Program
The GLA:D Program is designed for individuals living with osteoarthritis. It combines educational sessions with guided group exercises to reduce pain, improve joint function, and enhance mobility. Led by our Kinesiologist, this evidence-based program supports participants in managing their symptoms and improving quality of life while benefiting from the motivation and encouragement of a group setting.

  • Otago Falls Prevention Exercise Program
The Otago Program is a research-backed exercise program aimed at reducing the risk of falls in older adults. Guided by our Kinesiologist, it focuses on exercises to improve strength, balance, and mobility, helping patients feel more confident and steady on their feet. Regular participation can reduce fall risk, prevent injuries, and support greater independence at home and in daily life.

Ongoing Support and Patient Empowerment
Our Kinesiologist works closely with patients to track progress, adjust programs as needed, and provide encouragement and education throughout the journey. By understanding the connection between movement, chronic disease management, and overall health, patients gain the confidence and skills needed to take an active role in their wellness.
